Using "Rules" to manager Emmaus Prayer Circle Messages
The following information is specific for Microsoft Outlook Express version 6.0 and the Crossroads Emmaus Prayer Circle. If you are not sure which version of Outlook Express you are using,
Open Outlook Express
Click on the "Help" menu
Click "About Microsoft Outlook Express".The following window should appear for Microsoft Outlook Express:
If you have a version lower than 6, do not continue. You would be well served to update now.
Setting the correct View
With Outlook Express open, we need to make sure we have the correct view.
Click on "View"
Click on "Layout"
Verify that you have a check mark in the box next to "Folder Bar" and "Folder List"
If you do not have check marks in these boxes, click each box until a check mark appears.
Click "Apply"
Click "OK"Create a "Circle" Folder
We need to create a new folder to store our prayer circle messages. To keep things easy, I named mine "Circle".
Right click on the "Inbox" folder
Click "New Folder"
Type Circle for the folder's name
Click "OK"
Your folder view should display the
new folder under the Inbox folder
as shown here:
Create the Rule
We are now ready to create the rule that will analyze and take action on matching messages.
Click on "Tools"
Click on "Message Rules"
Click on "Mail"
Under item 1. Conditions, Select
"Where the Subject line contains..."Under item 2. Select Actions, Select
"Move it to the specified folder"Under item 3. Rule Description, click
"contains specific words" and type:
[Emmaus Prayer Circle]
note: these are brackets not parenthesis
Click "Add"
Click "OK"
Click "specified"
Click on the "Circle" folder
Click "OK"Under item 4. Name, type:
CR Emmaus Prayer Circle
Click "OK"You will see a summary of the rule you have just created.
Click "OK" to close this window.
Your new rule is ready to take action on the next message received from the CR Emmaus Prayer Circle.
Remember that these messages will automatically be moved into your new Circle folder!
